Things To Do: Winter

Winter In
New Meadows

When the snow blankets the landscape, New Meadows becomes a winter wonderland filled with endless opportunities for snow-filled fun.

Skiing/Snowboarding

Hit the slopes at Brundage Mountain Resort for some of the best skiing and snowboarding in the Pacific Northwest. With over 1,900 acres of terrain and an average annual snowfall of 320 inches, it’s a powder hound’s paradise and it’s just minutes from the Heartland Hotel. Little Ski Hill is a community classic, firing up its T-bar lift for affordable day and night skiing. For those thirsting for a bit more vert, Tamarack Resort’s 2,800 vertical is just 33 miles down the road, less than an hour drive each way.

Backcountry Skiing/Snowboarding

Skiers and snowboarders who are ready to take their powder pursuits to the next level have two incredible options here in the West Central Mountains. Brundage Snowcat Adventures offers guided tours on 18,000 acres of pristine Payette National Forest backcountry. An even heartier adventure awaits if you book with Payette Powder Guides, who offer SnowCat or snowmobile transport to a backcountry yurt for those not afraid to earn their turns on some of the area’s most pristine peaks.

Snowmobiling

The Heartland Hotel is the perfect basecamp for your snowmobile adventures. It’s conveniently located near several snowmobile parking areas (Wallace Lane, West Face, and Gordon Titus) and the hotel has plenty of room to park your snowmobile trailer overnight. For those new to the sport, you can choose a guided trip from Brundage Snowmobile Adventures or C&M Backcountry. Both of those businesses, along with Cheap Thrills also offer snowmobile rentals.
